What Distilled Water Is Used For

Because steam distillation removes essentially all minerals, distilled water won’t leave scale or residue in equipment.

CPAP Machines & Humidifiers

Most CPAP manufacturers recommend distilled water for the humidifier chamber. Our 1-gallon 3-packs make it easy to keep a supply at home. See distilled water for CPAP machines.

Dental & Medical Autoclaves

Autoclaves and sterilizers typically call for distilled water to prevent mineral buildup. We deliver to dental and medical offices on a regular schedule. See distilled water for autoclaves and dental equipment.

Labs, Batteries & Equipment

Distilled and deionized water are used in labs, lead-acid batteries, cooling systems, steam irons, and spot-free cleaning.

How Steam Distillation Works

Distillation is one of the most thorough ways to purify water:

  1. Boiling: Water is heated into steam, leaving minerals and contaminants behind.
  2. Condensation: The steam is captured and cooled back into liquid water.
  3. Collection: The finished water is essentially free of minerals and dissolved solids, then bottled.

Distilled water is safe to drink, though it tastes flatter than spring or purified water. Not sure which you need? Read purified vs. distilled water.
